Hello!
My name is Jessie, I was just accepted to be a part of the Minnesota Norway Education (MINNE) Israel & Holocaust Fellowship (http://jewishminneapolis.org/minne/) , for its first year. I mean first year existing ever, that exciting!
So I am very lucky to have the opportunity to immerse myself in the Israeli life, while I learn about a new perspective of the Holocaust. (Not the US Perspective)
This is the purpose of my Blog, to record and remember everything I can soak up over these ten day. Oh, man by the way my name is Jessie, I am from Chicago.. actually Des Plaines Illinois. (right next to O'hare so super close to Chicago). I grew up there with my family and the birds and the dogs and the fish, and all of my lovely friends. I went to good old, OCC Oakton Community College for two years, then I became hungry for something new. I applied for AmeriCorps and ended up working as a project coordinator at Rebuilding Together Twin Cities, which is in Minneapolis, MN.
I love Minnesota, its full of weird, hearty people who love the outdoors, and dogs, and beer (I am 23 so I can say that). I decided to stay in MN and attend Augsburg College to work on a degree in Secondary Education and History. I am in Bonner Leaders which gives me the opportunity to volunteer where ever I want and do what ever I want at these places, and get paid through work study, which is boss. Elaine, who runs that program sent the application for this fellowship my way and the rest is history, well it is happening right now so present history, or recent history.
I am going to use this blog to explain to myself how I am going to prep, participate, and then eventually reflect upon this amazing experience.
